Not bad...

But not totally awesome. It's good, in its own right, but it just feels kind of... bland. Although it's only your 4th song in the series, I find your first two much more pleasing to the ear.

I think maybe because it uses the same synth for both main beats (main "refrain" melody, and "solo" melody).

It reminds me much of Dimrain47's middlish songs. The song itself isn't bad, but it sounds all the same throughout, and it loses its touch.

NightHawk22 responds:

I agree. I don't like it very much.

Flows really nicely

If that's one thing I like about this song, its harmony flows along really nicely to me. I love the melody as well, along with the solos in there (one of each instrument it seems, heh), but with the piano being my favorite. I would have liked to hear more of it (we already know you're great with it, just look at Sun & Moon!)

A very nice piece of work. It seems like it just keeps going. Like it was simple to do, but hard to master at the same time.

NightHawk22 responds:

thanks, Yeah, i've taken piano lessons for like 10 years now, I'm not insane at playing, but I do have a knack for writing music for it.

Nice feel to it

From what I've read though, it's not too different from the original version, so I'll probably give you a "high 4" (bad pun, I know).

Even so, it's very nice, and I love the strings. Actually makes me want to go get the game now, which I think I will.

I was more surprised to see that this came out on the same day as Darktronics. Nice job on both.

Dim-rainy

^^Meaning it sounds a little like Dimrain47's music, or is middle work.

However, the guitar is one thing that alwasy gets me. Guitar + Techno = Instant Win for me. I just love the sounds.

Very good for your first try. Hell, it's awesome for someone starting out. You can defenitly see the improvement over your tracks, and seeing what works.

As my Calculus teacher would say, you get a gold star.

NightHawk22 responds:

heh-heh thanks

Quite a different feel...

If you listen hard enough, you can defenitly spot the subtle switches from high to low, like in Sun & Moon. As said, they're subtle, and flow nicely IMO.

The intro kind of reminded me of playing some futuristic old video game, haha. It certainly has that feel, and the style is much different then what you've done in the past with other music.

I'm happy to hear more percussion (specifically, not the generic claps), or at the least, some thicker bass in there.

I especially like the basic melody. It's got a nice calm feel to it, in contrast to the fast paced of the song.

Only downside I can think of is the white noise / backfeed at the end. It's kind of irritating, and I would've liked it if you did something similar with the beginning there instead.

Overall, nice job. And congrats on your Gold rating for Sun & Moon.

NightHawk22 responds:

thanks, It seemed kinda video gamey to me too.

And the diamond man returns

Heh, the guy with all the diamond tracks, after what, three months?

Pretty wild, and it has that familiar techno tune to it that you use in your other works. Yet the melody is much different then that used in your old work (I'm sure you've heard the "it all sounds the same" complaint before!).

Nice to see some new music from you.

Envy

And I don't mean that in a bad way. I just envy those with musical talent. I tried playing a Bass guitar for a year, and I couldn't even move my hands past one set of notes.

Very soothing and calm, which is quite a stark contrast to your earlier work. Not that it matters. The song is downright beutiful. Like the other reviewer, it has a familar sound to it, but then again, your not the first person to create calming and soothing piano tunes.

Very nicely done. You get a 5.

Nice Job

I gotta say, if there's anything I've leraned by checking the Audio Portal often, it's that if you put enough music out, people will start to listen to it. At least that seems to be the case with this song. You kept pumping them out, and finally, someone decided to listen what you had to say.

The song itself is beuitful. The piano is certainly a trademark of this song, as is the "moon" theme melody.

If anything, you remind me of the style Dimrain47 uses. Very strong techno melodies and harmony.

Also like Dimrain47, your downside is percussion percussion. You resort to the generic clap more often then using actual drum beats. Sure the claps do well as filler, but they get kind of "repetivive" if you can say that for percussion beats.

I was going to say that you should listen to Karco's music (god knows why his isn't up in the top 50), seeing as he's taking a liking to your style, but you already beat me to the cut XD

I'd say give cornandbeans a listen, and possibly ParagonX9 for some ideas on bass and percussion. Overall, good job.
